For months, getting to businesses along West Main Street in downtown Welland hasn't always been easy.
Construction closures and changes to traffic access have made it more difficult for customers to get to businesses like Build It Again Ron.
Irene Mauro, the store manager and co-owner, says the Welland location saw a noticeable drop in foot traffic and sales during the construction.
Now, with West Main Street beginning to reopen, Mauro says they're already seeing some customers return.
The reopening of the corner has made it possible for drivers to turn onto West Main, which Mauro says has already led to an increase in business.
For Build It Again Ron and other West Main Street businesses, the hope is that easier access will bring customers back through the doors - and help breathe some new life into the downtown.
