Welland’s mini forest project to turn empty lot into living hub

The City of Welland is set to grow its first mini forest, bringing 1,700 native trees and shrubs to the Logan Avenue area.

Thanks to a $10,000 grant from Green Communities Canada, the project has been endorsed by the City’s Green Advisory Committee as part of its commitment to sustainability and urban greening.

The Logan Avenue mini forest will also serve as a community hub, transforming unused land into a gathering place where families, schools, and neighbourhood groups can connect with nature.

Residents are invited to help plant the new forest on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to noon at 94 Glenwood Pkwy.

All supplies will be provided, and volunteers are encouraged to dress for the weather.
