Welland to start street sweeping operations next week, asking residents to avoid street parking

The City of Welland’s annual street sweeping program is set to begin March 30, weather permitting, with crews working through neighbourhoods until the end of April.

Sweepers will start in the city’s south end and gradually move north, clearing curb lines and cul-de-sacs along the way.

The program removes sand, dust and debris left behind after winter, helping prevent it from entering storm sewers and local waterways like the canal, river and creeks.

Residents are asked to help by keeping streets clear during sweeping, avoiding on-street parking, not placing debris at the curb, and moving items like hockey and basketball nets off the road.

Keeping driveway and sidewalk debris off the street will also help crews work safely and efficiently.
