Welland has 1700 new trees planted, all part of a new mini-forest initiative in Dain City.
On Saturday, volunteers from across the community helped plant what's been named the 'Logan Mini Forest'.
Manager of Policy Planning with the City of Welland Nick Aiello says they've planted elsewhere in the city, but nothing to this scale.
Nick mentions the city has worked hand in hand with the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority on this project, adding that they bring lots of expertise.
The mini forest can be access through an alley off of Glenwood Kingsway.
