The Alzheimer Society of Niagara is getting a helping hand today, from one of the biggest brands in the world.
For every coffee or tea purchased at Welland McDonald's locations today, 50 cents will be donated to the local Alzheimer Society - helping them with fundraising to help spread awareness of the disease.
Alzheimer Society of Niagara CEO Teena Kindt says the more educated people can be about the disease, the better.
The Niagara Region has one of the largest senior populations per capita in Canada, with over 12,000 people experiencing a form of dementia.
McDonald's Community Relations Representative Anne Molnar says despite being a worldwide brand, the fast-food chain is always dedicated to helping those in their community.
The Alzheimer Society of Niagara Region has been providing support, resources, and education for over 38 years.
