A 24-year-old Welland man is facing three charges following a Niagara police investigation into the possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

The NRPS Internet Child Exploitation Unit began investigating in April, identifying a suspect and executing a search warrant at a Welland residence on August 27.

Police say a digital forensic examination led to the arrest of David Ryan Jones, who is charged with accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material and two counts of possession.

Jones remains in custody and is scheduled for a bail hearing today at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
