Welland council approves plan to fund South Niagara Hospital contribution

The City of Welland now has a plan in place to fund its nearly $18-million contribution to the South Niagara Hospital Project.

The plan uses a mix of city reserves and phased-in tax increases.

For a typical home assessed at $234,000, the hospital levy will add up to about $402.66 from 2027 to 2038.

Council also approved adding a separate hospital levy line on property tax bills to improve transparency for residents.
