Welland approves 2026 budget with 4.01% levy

Welland has approved its 2026 municipal budget, setting a 4.01 per cent tax levy increase.

City officials say the plan balances day-to-day service delivery with major infrastructure renewal as Welland continues to expand.

Council added eight amendments to the mayor’s proposal, including new staffing in fire prevention, museum education, and community development, along with investments in tree canopy growth, pavement work, and key road and utility designs.

Water and wastewater rates are also rising, with the average household expected to pay about $102 more next year. The final impact on property tax bills will be confirmed once regional and school board rates are set.
