Two suspects arrested, one wanted for attempted murder after woman set on fire

Niagara Regional Police are investigating a violent incident in St. Catharines after a woman suffered severe burn injuries.

On Saturday, August 16, just after 11:00 p.m., officers responded to an apartment near Vine Street and Scott Street for an Assist Ambulance call.

A female victim was found with serious burns to her upper body and face and was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

Detectives determined the woman had been deliberately targeted by three suspects she knew. Police say the suspects entered her apartment while she slept and used an accelerant to set her on fire.

Following the investigation, two suspects have been arrested. 25-year-old Chassidy Archer of St. Catharines has been charged with attempted murder and break and enter. 30-year-old Moises Medeiros, also of St. Catharines, faces charges of attempted murder, break and enter, failing to comply with a court order, and carrying a concealed weapon.

A third suspect, 37-year-old Rebecca Daigneault of St. Catharines, remains wanted on related charges.

Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
