Two St. Catharines hockey legends to have banners raised in Meridian Centre

Two legends of St. Catharines hockey will be honoured this Saturday as banners for Pierre Pilote and Rudy Pilous are raised to the rafters of the Meridian Centre.

The ceremony, part of the city’s 150th anniversary celebrations and organized with the Niagara IceDogs, recognizes Pilote, a former St. Catharines Teepees star who went on to a Hall of Fame NHL career, and Pilous, the founder of the city’s first Junior A team and a two-time Memorial Cup champion.

The IceDogs will wear vintage-inspired jerseys celebrating decades of Jr. A hockey history, which will be auctioned after the game to benefit Community Crew’s school lunch program.
