Following an investigation by the Town of Fort Erie’s By-law Enforcement and Water/Wastewater teams, two residents have been charged under the Administrative Monetary Penalty System for tampering with their residential water meters.
The probe, conducted in the Dominion Road area between August 16 and September 27, resulted in 16 charges.
Each count carries a minimum fine of $400, totaling approximately $6,400.
The Town’s by-laws prohibit interfering with or obstructing any municipal water meter, valve, or related equipment.
Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity or by-law violations, with all reports kept confidential.
