Traffic stop leads to drug trafficking charges for Welland woman

A Welland woman has been arrested by Niagara Regional Police on drug-related charges.

Officers were on patrol in the area of East Main and Division Street in Welland Saturday afternoon and stopped a women driving with a suspended license. 

After observing what appeared to be items used for drug trafficking, Heather Caldwell of Welland was arrested and police seized 14.7 grams of suspected yellow fentanyl worth over $1400.

The 38-year-old has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime over $5000, and Driving while Under Suspension.

Caldwell was released with a future court date.
