Ten Brock University researchers have received more than $2.4 million in federal funding to support projects aimed at advancing health, science and technology.

Among them is Biological Sciences Professor Gaynor Spencer, whose research focuses on a molecule derived from Vitamin A that plays an important role in brain development and communication between nerve cells.

With support from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, Spencer and her team will study how the molecule helps the brain form connections linked to learning and memory.

University officials say the funding will support research with the potential to improve lives and expand scientific knowledge.
