St. Catharines man wins $185k, plans to give some back to workers where he bought the ticket

A St. Catharines man got the shock of his life this year on his way home from the gym.

Earl Longhurst stopped at the 7-Eleven on Hartzel Road on the way and, on a whim, decided to play the Lightning Lotto. Longhurst thought the machine broke when it froze and started flashing but, turns out he'd won the top prize that day of around $185,000.

Along with using the money to tackle some home renovations, the 61-year-old says he believes in giving, and plans to give $500 to each cashier where he won.
