St. Catharines will mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11 with a special ceremony and tree planting at Happy Rolph’s.
Nine new trees have been planted along the 9/11 Memorial Trail, with each species chosen to reflect the locations connected to the attacks and the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York City.
Mayor Mat Siscoe, U.S. Consul General Baxter Hunt, MP Chris Bittle and MPP Jennie Stevens will take part in the September 10th ceremony.
The event will remember the 24 Canadians killed in the attacks, with plaques on the new trees carrying a message honouring the victims, survivors and first responders.
The trees join others planted more than 20 years ago along the trail, one for each Canadian killed on 9/11.
