A 34-year-old St. Catharines man is facing a second-degree murder charge after a man died following an assault on Lakeshore Road Friday morning.
Niagara police say officers responded around 11:50 a.m. and found the victim suffering from traumatic injuries, but he later died in hospital.
Brandon Marzec was arrested at a nearby residence by members of the Emergency Task Unit and was also taken to hospital after suffering an injury.
The SIU has invoked its mandate and is now investigating, meaning Niagara police cannot release any further details.
