The Shaw Festival is introducing new technology to make live theatre more accessible for people who are hard of hearing or experiencing hearing loss.
The system will allow patrons to connect using compatible hearing aids, cochlear implants, earbuds and headphones.
The initiative is being launched in partnership with Wavefront Centre for Communication Accessibility, using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Auracast technology to deliver clearer, more personalized sound.
The system will begin rolling out with the holiday production of Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella, opening November 20th.
