Seven people were arrested during a Niagara Regional Police drug enforcement initiative in Niagara Falls.

Officers targeted open-air drug use around Main Street and Ferry Street, seizing illegal drugs and paraphernalia while also connecting those arrested with information about addiction treatment and community supports.

Police also arrested a 45-year-old Niagara Falls woman on outstanding warrants.

A second woman, 54-year-old Charmaine Taylor, was charged with several drug trafficking offences after officers allegedly witnessed a drug deal.

Investigators seized suspected fentanyl, heroin, hydromorphone tablets and cash.
