Ry-Ro Record Setting Hero

Ryan Roobroeck scored the overtime winner 13 seconds into extra time as the IceDogs knocked off Brantford 4-3 Sunday afternoon. The winner, his 93rd in an IceDogs uniform, lifted the draft eligible winger to 6th all-time in IceDogs history.

A scoreless first was punctuated by a highlight reel save from Charlie Robertson. The ice breaker came 1:34 into the second as Ethan Czata scored his 17th on the power-play. Chase Hull extended the lead to 2-0 with a left wing blast that was his first for Niagara and 9th of the year. After the Bulldogs edged closer, Roobroeck ripped home his first of two at 19:27.

Up 3-1 in the final twenty, Brantford made it a one goal game near the mid-way mark before evening the score with 5:40 left in regulation. Over 60 minutes, the Bulldogs outshot the home side 33-22.

In overtime, after the IceDogs won the draw, Haoxi Wang out-muscled the Brantford defender and fed the puck to Roobroeck who picked an incredibly small opening past the Brantford netminder.

The afternoon was highlighted by the great work of the Rankin Cancer Run. The team wore specialty jerseys that are now up for auction in support of the local fight against Cancer.
