Another holiday weekend means another series of RIDE spot checks by Niagara Regional Police.

Officers were at various locations throughout the region Saturday night, stopping more than 400 vehicles and taking 36 roadside breath samples, leading to a pair of arrests.

A 49-year-old woman who refused to give a sample and a 49-year-old man testing over the legal limit were each arrested and had their license suspended for 90 days, with the man's car impounded for a week.

NRP also gave 7-day license suspensions to five additional drivers who tested within the 'Alert' range and issued 14 other tickets for various offenses.
