Niagara Regional Councillor Haley Bateman is raising concerns about governance decisions and growing financial pressures facing the Region.
She says recent communications tied to the A Better Municipal Governance Act were issued without proper council involvement and conflict with previously approved motions.
Bateman also says councillors have not been consulted on any potential new governance model, calling for greater transparency and accountability in decision-making.
She points to mounting financial strain, including millions in lost development charge revenue and rising costs for housing, transit, paramedics and infrastructure.
Bateman is now calling for a review of how municipalities are funded, urging both provincial and federal governments to provide more sustainable support.
