Niagara Region Public Health has found a single Asian tiger mosquito in Lincoln.
The mosquito tested negative for mosquito-borne viruses, and officials say the overall risk to residents remains low.
The species is known for aggressive daytime biting, so residents are reminded to use insect repellent, wear long sleeves and eliminate standing water around their homes.
Public Health will continue weekly mosquito surveillance across Niagara.
