Ontario is expanding eligibility for its Protect Ontario Financing Program as businesses face new U.S. tariffs on Canadian imports.
Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff says the move will help protect local jobs and provide financial support to businesses dealing with challenges such as making payroll, lease and utility payments.
The program offers up to one-billion dollars in loans to Ontario businesses facing tariff-related working capital pressures, including those affected by new Section 338 tariffs and existing tariffs on things like steel, aluminum and automobiles.
The province says the expansion is part of its broader 30-billion-dollar tariff relief plan.
