The Town of Lincoln’s request for provincial disaster assistance following this summer’s flooding has been denied.
The province says the community doesn’t qualify for the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians program because affected residents had access to sufficient private insurance, including overland flood coverage.
Mayor Sandra Easton says the decision is disappointing, especially for residents who are still dealing with the aftermath.
The Town had been pushing for assistance since the July flooding, collecting damage reports and arranging provincial assessments at 16 properties.
Residents are encouraged to speak with their insurance providers, while anyone needing recovery supplies can contact the Town.
