Niagara Regional Police, along with multiple partner agencies, have wrapped up a major organized crime investigation known as “Project Road King.”
The probe began in August 2024 after NRPS received information about a drug trafficking operation tied to the Niagara Region, which was later found to be part of a wider criminal network.
By April 2025, the case had expanded into a Joint Forces Operation involving the RCMP, Hamilton and Brantford police, Canada Border Services, Halton police, the Criminal Intelligence Service of Ontario, and Équité Association.
Niagara Regional Police Chief Bill Fordy says working with other agencies is crucial when it comes to an investigation this large.
On September 9th investigators executed 12 search warrants across Niagara, Hamilton, and Toronto, seizing nearly $4 million in stolen vehicles, large quantities of drugs, firearms, and cash.
NRPS Inspector Mike Tripp says many of the vehicles seized were done so at the last moment, preventing even more from being stolen.
In total, 30 people were arrested and now face 213 charges linked to drug trafficking, organized auto theft, and related crimes.
