U.S. President Donald Trump says he’s pausing a new round of 50 per cent tariffs on Canadian goods that were set to take effect today.
Trump announced the three-day delay Tuesday night, saying Canada and the U.S. are close to finalizing a trade deal. Prime Minister Mark Carney says substantial progress has been made, but there’s still important work to be done.
The tariffs would have affected about 20-billion U.S. dollars worth of Canadian goods.
