Premier Doug Ford was in St. Catharines Wednesday announcing more than $90 million in provincial funding to expand Ontario’s shipbuilding industry.
The investment, through the Ontario Shipbuilding Grant Program, will support shipbuilders with new equipment, infrastructure upgrades and skills training while helping create thousands of jobs across the marine sector.
Funding includes support for companies in St. Catharines, Port Colborne and Kingston as the province looks to increase its role in Canada’s shipbuilding strategy and defence industry.
