George Brasovan was last seen around 2:00pm Friday
Niagara Regional Police say efforts to find a missing 79-year-old man in Lake Ontario are continuing.
Police say Friday just before 9:00pm, a man failed to return after going out in a rowboat around 2:00pm. 79-year-old George Brasovan, an avid rower, took his 12-foot portable rowboat out near 7th Street in Grimsby.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre Trenton is assisting police in the investigation.
Brasovan is described as a white man, 5'9 tall, weighing 160 pounds and has short grey hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing black shorts, a bright yellow sleeveless vest, a blue ball cap and possibly glasses. His vessel is described as a beige, 12-foot folding rowboat.
The NRPS is requesting that residents in the Grimsby area, near the search area, to check their properties and outbuildings in case Brasovan sought shelter overnight.
