Police investigating afternoon stabbing in Niagara Falls

Niagara Regional Police are investigating a stabbing that happened in the area of Niagara Square Drive near McLeod Road.

Wednesday afternoon, around 1:30 p.m., officers found a 59-year-old man suffering from a stab wound. He was taken to an out-of-region trauma centre, where he remains in critical but stable condition.

Police say the victim and a female suspect were involved in a verbal argument before the suspect allegedly stabbed him once in the back and fled the scene in a silver sedan heading south on Niagara Square Drive.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam or surveillance footage from the area to contact the Niagara Regional Police.
