Niagara Regional Police are on scene following a fatal collision involving a child pedestrian at the aquatic centre located at the corner of Carlton Street and Niagara Street in St. Catharines.
The incident occurred in the parking lot of the facility. The child was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have confirmed that the child’s next of kin have been notified, and the driver involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
This remains an active investigation. Members of the public are asked to avoid the area to allow police to complete their work.
Anyone needing to access the centre is instructed to use the far east end of the parking lot.
The west side of the lot, along with the adjacent park area, will be closed for several hours.
At this time, no details regarding the cause of the collision have been released.
