Police arrest Welland man in connection to social media investigation

A Welland man is facing charges following an Internet child exploitation investigation in Niagara. 

Police say the Niagara Regional Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit began the investigation in June after reports of child sexual abuse and exploitation material being shared on a social media platform. 

With help from the Technological Crimes Unit, investigators identified a suspect in Welland. 

On June 25th, 43-year-old Michael Eldridge was arrested and charged with possession, accessing, and making available child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
