A Pelham student is being recognized for making a difference both on and off the ice.

Tess Philbrick has been awarded a $5,000 Ontario Minor Hockey Association and Dairy Farmers of Ontario bursary, recognizing six graduating students across the province for their achievements in hockey, academics and community service.

Philbrick was active in music, sports and volunteer work while attending E.L. Crossley Secondary School, and mentors young volunteers with Pelham Minor Hockey.

She'll attend the University of Guelph this fall to study Biomedical Science and pursue her passion for a career in medicine.
