Fans of The Beatles, and there are many, are being offered a rare glimpse of the band’s world in the early 1960s as well as intimate views of its members.
'Paul McCartney Photographs 1963-1964: Eyes of the Storm' is being exhibited at the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto until June 7th. It features more than 250 photographs taken by Paul McCartney over a ten-week period in Liverpool, London, Paris, New York City, Washington and Miami.
Jim Shedden, the curator of special projects and director of publishing for the Art Gallery of Ontario, says McCartney was a “quite good” photographer whose images capture Beatlemania during its rise as an international phenomenon.
Shedden says The Beatles’ enduring popularity is rooted in their having introduced a new direction in terms of the popular music of the era.
Shedden adds this is a rare opportunity that no Beatles fan, or fan of the era’s music, should pass up.
