Pair arrested after gun found in Niagara Falls hotel room

Niagara Regional Police have arrested two people following the discovery of a loaded handgun and a large quantity of drugs at a Niagara Falls hotel.

On October 16, hotel staff on Ferry Street near Main Street found a firearm in a room that had just been vacated. Officers recovered a prohibited .25-calibre handgun with a round in the chamber.

The room’s previous occupants, a 27-year-old man from Toronto and a 30-year-old woman from North York were found in another room and arrested.

A search at police headquarters revealed the man had 8 grams of suspected crystal meth and $1,710 in cash, while the woman had $200.

A search warrant executed on their hotel room turned up a significant amount of drugs, including suspected cocaine, fentanyl, morphine, hydromorphone, oxycodone, cash, and ammunition with a total street value exceeding $26,900.

Benjamin Shearer and Taylor Harrison now face multiple drug trafficking and firearm-related charges.
