Niagara Falls is adding 54 new trees at two local schools and two city parks to increase shade and strengthen the urban tree canopy.

The project is a partnership between the city and the Niagara Catholic District School Board.

Trees will be planted at C.B. Wright Park, West Field Park, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Elementary School and Father Hennepin Catholic Elementary School.

The locations were chosen based on existing tree cover and the needs of vulnerable youth populations.
