Ontario NDP Leader Marit Stiles makes stop in Niagara

Ontario NDP Leader Marit Stiles has made a stop in Niagara for her All in for Ontario tour to Niagara, calling for urgent action to restore local health services.

Joined yesterday by Niagara-area NDP MPPs Wayne Gates, Jennie Stevens, and Jeff Burch, Stiles focused on the reduced hours at urgent care centres in Fort Erie and Port Colborne, calling them the latest examples of a broader crisis.

She pointed to what she calls chronic underfunding and a shift toward privatization as the root causes behind ER closures, staff shortages, and a growing number of Ontarians without access to a family doctor.

The Niagara MPPs echoed these concerns.

They stressed that families in Niagara deserve 24/7 urgent and emergency care, and that wait times and locked doors at care centres are becoming dangerously common.

The NDP says it is calling for immediate investment to stabilize staffing levels and restore full services to local urgent care centres before the situation worsens.
