The Ontario government has announced new steps to strengthen education around the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Ministers Paul Calandra and Greg Rickford say schools across the province will reflect on the legacy of residential schools during Orange Shirt Day and the September 30 observance.
As part of the effort, the Ministry of Education will work with Indigenous partners over the next year to create new curriculum resources for use in all classrooms.
The materials are set to be ready by September 30, 2026, to ensure students learn consistently about the history and impact of residential schools.
