NRPS warn of bank impersonation scams circulating Niagara

Niagara Regional Police are warning residents about a scam involving callers posing as representatives from banks or credit card companies.

Fraudsters claim there’s an issue with a debit or credit card and may even “spoof” the number to make it appear as though the call is coming from the victim’s financial institution.

They then ask for personal banking details and send someone to collect the victim’s card.

Police stress that no legitimate financial institution will send anyone to your home to retrieve debit or credit cards.

Residents, especially seniors are urged to stay alert and report suspicious activity to police.
