NRPS searching for suspect after man stabbed in St. Catharines

Niagara Regional Police are investigating a stabbing in St. Catharines.

Early Sunday morning just before 5, officers responded to Queenston Street and Niagara Street where they found a man in his 30s suffering from serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries.

Police say the victim had been sleeping outdoors after leaving a licensed establishment when an unknown man attacked him, striking him in the head and stabbing him multiple times before fleeing with his cellphone.

The suspect is described as white, about 5’8”, in his 30s, with a short beard.

Detectives believe the attack was an isolated but random act of violence and are asking witnesses or anyone who finds discarded items in the area to come forward.
