Niagara Regional Police's annual Spring Food Drive kicks off today at three locations across the region.
The drive, which runs until Thursday, partners with ten local food banks, 13 grocery stores as well as Post Foods Canada to help address food insecurity.
Today's locations include Food Basics in Pelham, Sobeys in Port Colborne, and No Frills in Fort Erie, which each spot collecting donations until 3:00pm. A full list of locations for the week, as well as the organizations that are benefitting from donations, can be found below.
Day 1 – Monday, May 11
- Pelham (Pelham Cares) – Food Basics, located at 130 Highway 20 East
- Port Colborne (Port Cares) – Sobeys, located at 287 West Side Road
- Fort Erie (The Salvation Army) – No Frills, located at 1135 Thompson Road
Day 2 – Tuesday, May 12
- Grimsby (GBF Community Service) – Real Canadian Superstore, located at 361 South Service Road
- St Catharines (Community Care) – Real Canadian Superstore, located at 411 Louth Street
- St Catharines (Community Care) – No Frills, Located at 581 Lake Street
- Smithville (West Lincoln Community Centre) – Foodland, located at 239 St Catharine Street
Day 3 – Wednesday, May 13
- Beamsville (Community Care of West Niagara) – No Frills, located at 4961 King Street East
- Welland (The Hope Centre) – No Frills, located at 390 Lincoln Street East
- Niagara Falls (Project Share) – Food Basics, located at 3770 Montrose Road
Day 4 – Thursday, May 14
- Niagara Falls (Project Share) – Zehrs, located at 6940 Morrison Street
- Welland (The Hope Centre) – Zehrs, located at 821 Niagara Street
- Niagara-on-the-Lake (Newark Neighbours) – Your Independent Grocer, located at 1551 Niagara Stone Road
In the last five years, the food drive has collected over 73,000 pounds of food and over $50,000.
