Suspect still at large according to police
Niagara Regional Police are investigating a shooting in Fort Erie.
Around 1:30am, police were called to a home on Niagara Boulevard between Bertie Street and Murray Street after reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, police found a 27-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body. He was brought to an out-of-region hospital in stable condition.
Police say an altercation had led to the shooting, while a suspect has been identified as 28-year-old Samuel Sawyer of Fort Erie.
He's wanted for discharging a firearm and aggravated assault. While he is still at large, police believe the shooting to be targeted.
NRPS have confirmed Sawyer was also arrested in May for another shooting on Niagara Boulevard, however no injuries were reported in that incident.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact police.
