NPCA provides positive update on Niagara River cleanup efforts

The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority says years of environmental cleanup work along the Canadian side of the Niagara River is paying off.

After decades of efforts to reduce pollution and restore the ecosystem, the NPCA says fish and wildlife populations in the river are no longer being harmed.

This achievement was one of the many goals of the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement signed between Canada and the U.S. in 1972, and signals the success of several long-term efforts to improve water quality and ecosystem health in the Niagara River.
