Risk of severe thunderstorms capable of producing torrential rainfall between 50 to 75 mm
The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority is warning residents about the potential for flooding as severe thunderstorms move into the region.
The NPCA says storms expected Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning could bring 50 to 75 millimetres of rainfall, with the heaviest amounts still uncertain.
While major flooding along larger waterways is not expected, officials say flash flooding is possible in low-lying and urban areas.
Residents are being reminded to stay away from creeks, rivers and other waterways as water levels rise and banks become slippery. Property owners are also encouraged to clear debris from drainage areas and take steps to protect their homes from possible flooding.
The NPCA says it will continue monitoring conditions and provide updates as needed.
