The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake gained some recognition this week at the 2026 ROMA conference in Toronto.
The town was named as a recipient of a provincial rural excellence award. The town earned the inaugural Rural Partnership Award for its innovative municipal asset-sharing agreement with the Town of Minto, using the GruShare platform to reduce costs and improve services.
Officials say the partnership demonstrates leadership in efficiency by allowing municipalities to share equipment instead of purchasing new assets.
Deputy Lord Mayor Erwin Wiens says the agreement is helping lower costs while maintaining strong service levels.
