Niagara-on-the-Lake Fire & Emergency Services has received $82,000 in provincial funding to support firefighter health and safety.
The funding comes through the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Fire Protection Grant for the 2025-2026 year.
The money will be used to purchase new protective bunker gear, helping reduce firefighters’ exposure to cancer-causing contaminants during emergency calls.
The grant is part of a $30 million, three-year provincial program aimed at addressing the elevated cancer risks faced by firefighters across Ontario.
