In the week leading up to the 2026 Municipal Election, we will be featuring profiles for candidates running for Mayor in Niagara's three largest municipalities - St. Catharines, Niagara Falls and Welland.
Today's profile is Michael Lucid, who is running to be Mayor of Niagara Falls. Born on August 25, 1976, Michael grew up in an outdoors-loving family just outside Ridgetown, Ontario, in the Chatham-Kent region.
What is the single biggest issue facing Niagara Falls right now, and what is the first concrete thing you would do as mayor to address it?
Well, we're all a product of our environment, so we have to go back. We have a big thing right now where mental health is huge, but we forgot the main two other intelligence centers of the body and those also need to be healed. There is heart healing, okay? And there is physical reconstruction that has to be done and as well with the mental health. The decay in society's outta control. At what point you say, I can't deal with it anymore. Talking about human trafficking and talking about a fentanyl crime crisis right here in Niagara Falls. If you told me that 25 years ago, I would just say, how could this even be possible? How could you be in such a low vibration? And when I bring it all the way back, the reality is, is that it started with DEI. if you identify negatively then you get special privileges and it's out of control to not take what Martin Luther King said and that is to judge people on the content to their character because of that you're seeing protests in France you saw there was 600 first responders that were injured in 2000 arrests you're also seeing at the homecoming you had, I think it could have been 15,000 out of control people because we don't know what to do. We have to bring it back more tribal. The DEI is done. With the DEI, it gives everybody a chance to break the law and do whatever they want. It makes the whole society collapse. The housing crisis is manufactured. This whole thing is manufactured. At the pinnacle, you'd call it public safety, but we have to figure out how we got there. I have a plan at strongniagara.ca.
Property taxes are a major concern for many residents. How would you balance keeping taxes affordable with the need to maintain roads, infrastructure and municipal services?
No, I mean, because it's not necessary. Why would we talk about having to pay a corruption tax? Look who is endorsing Jim Diodati. Okay, look who's now attacking Lori Lococo. I'm the only one who has a real plan. I'm flabbergasted that the average homeowner here in a blue collar town is paying $4,900 in property taxes. It's absolute insanity. Insanity. It's asinine. So what you have to do is a plan like mine where you're not promising austerity, you're promising performance. I am a mayor in the community. I will be on the front lines with the police directing them on the fentanyl crime crisis. I am going to set up the trillion dollar human gritty boot camp. in a motel outside of the city and people will get out of their head and they'll get in Mother Nature and the cold will be the teacher. And that's the way that it works is that we come back to source and we do the heart healing and we do the physical reconstruction. When you look at Why we're not doing well is because we've lowered our quality of visitor and we've upped our crime and we're out of our mind in terms of this whole thing of let's build more prisons. Anytime you hear a siren, no matter which level of government's paying for it, it's low vibes and it's costly in your society. I'm running to so that we will. raise the vibration way, way, way, way up. There is a low vibe crisis. It's not about the computer, which is us. It's about the programming. The software right now is talks to people want you to know about something that happened hundreds of years ago. You're going to slander my ancestors? No, you won't. You'll get into the power of now. We're all equal. I have a platform. I'm ready to lead the city that is that capital. of the natural world if you're looking for water. We're all magnetic. What are we doing that we're destroying this place? And I have all those details right there on my website.
Niagara continues to grow. How should your municipality handle new development and housing while making sure infrastructure and services can keep up with that growth?
So we've had a long, time to fix the wastewater treatment plant. I will not put raw waste into the Great Lakes system like they have been doing systemically probably for decades. You go through there and you're literally falling over. Think about animals, how much sense they have and they have to deal with that. The people down in Clifton Hill eating the most ultra-processed foods and then flushing it out right into the raw water. It makes no sense. Until we get the infrastructure out of control, up to date, then we're not doing this. is a pyramid scheme. When people are coming into the community, I'm a mayor in the community, I want to know who you are, where you're coming from. That's the way that it works. with coming together as a community, you know, people, if there's issues like we see with unassimilated newcomers coming in and there's 15 people in there, if I find out right away on the top, we can deal with it. I can reason with people because most people actually want to raise their vibration. Nobody was born with a negative bone in their body for people to come up with racist and all this other stuff. Because really what happened is that the universities started recruiting the international students. And then a lot of them, let's be honest, a lot of them are childless cat ladies and really with daddy issues probably. And then they programmed all these guys coming in. that they're DEI and that everybody's racist and it's completely insane. No development until we get our acting in order. We have so many regional emergencies right now. We have a youth unemployment emergency. We have the wastewater, as I said, we have a fentanyl crime crisis and nobody will do anything about it. But guess what? Michael Lucid will. 100% I will be there every single day. I'm not leaving the city. I'm not going on junkets. Everybody comes here and I make sure that their vibrations are going up and that never, ever, ever stops. Our vibrations live forever.
What do you believe Niagara's municipalities and the Region should be doing differently together, and what would you personally do as mayor to improve regional cooperation?
So what it is, that it's quality of visitor has gone way down because of the special interest. You had the refugees come in right across from the casino. And then a year later, the ballet went out. We lost Canada's Got Talent, okay? We're not working together. When you look at George Spedza, you look at Adam Stiles, you look at David Adams, you look at Jim Diodati, these are all big government guys, right? That's what they're doing. I'm actually excited that they did streamline because then you have the alphas in at the region level to make things happen. I'm just saying, I'm not doing it for a watch. You will never see me do anything for that. I live for good vibes. When I go outside and I feel uncomfortable, that matters because feelings are true. Therapy is putting your feelings into words, and once you get the validation, you can move on. But the therapists never want to do that. All these nonprofits coming in, when you look at the growth zones for Niagara, it's healthcare and security. You're out of your mind, and then Diodati wants to bring the solace. manufacturing jobs I don't mind manufacturing there's nothing against it but I'm just saying when I grew up it was that we're going to rule the world and that's what I think everybody should strive for but there's opportunities for everything but in terms of us not having it as a pilgrimage for everybody to come here it's incredibly mixed up to have screwed that up people leave here and they don't talk about it because they get ripped off And they don't feel the vibes. You have to think about it. People come here for the Canadian hospitality. They don't come here for the temporary foreign worker hospitality. We've injected people in here when Trudeau said on a tweet. If you can find an asinine way to get here and a crazy story to back it up, you can stay. We brought millions of people in. All the crisis is. are completely manufactured. It's incredible. We can bring it back to source. Same with those addicts. They have to bring it back to source. We can do so much more working at the region. I don't say, hey, let's blow up a region of government. I say, why doesn't it work? Why aren't the casinos working? I know why they're not working because the quality of visitors way low and people say, I'm not coming back. That's the way that it goes. There's an opportunity here, but you need a leader like me that's running with the strong Niagara campaign that is going to bring things way, way, way up.
If elected, what is one thing you would change about how Niagara Falls operates that residents would actually notice within your first year?
I am a mayor in the community, so I am guaranteeing access to my constituents without an appointment four times a week, Monday to Thursday. In the morning, I'm gonna have the mayor's consolier service. Okay, so people that are having issues, they can come in and we can try to resolve it right on the spot. What I like about that too is say with the police dealing with somebody, instead of them saying, don't say anything, the justice system, That's very expensive once they start going that route. They can say, we're going to tell the mayor that you're coming in tomorrow to his consolier service at the McBain Center. That'll be Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to noon. In the afternoon, Monday to Thursday, I will have mayor. They're the mayor, mayor, youth club and decompression zone. Okay, that will be at the repurposed Niagara Falls Innovation Hub. Instead of giving that to the Gus Canada scam and the University of Niagara Falls fake AI, again, master scam, immigration scam, instead of giving it to them, we're going to give it to the youth. But what I like about it, it's a decompression zone. There's a lot of they they souped it up really, really well, which is awesome. It's going to be a great takeover. And what it is is that but they won't be able to bring their phones in. I don't want people playing on their phones and all that type of stuff. We can again, this is their club. This is their club for them to decompress and just enjoy the the moment, not think about all the pressures in the world. Additionally to that, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Gale Center. They have the most beautiful running track in the world with about 10 turns on it. And I'm going to have the mayor's, this one will be mine. I'll be running this one, the Mayor's Freestyle Running Club. That'll be 9pm to 10pm. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays so the whole difference is is that people can come to me I don't get it people are paying five grand in property taxes and they can't meet their mayor it's it's asinine I was talking to somebody who just got their property destroyed by a developer and they're paying 10 grand in property taxes and luckily I went to the land meeting with the officials here and I saw what an SH show it was and the whole thing is is that people just have to justify what they're getting with the performance and what it is is that if you have somebody that's corrupt then people aren't going to make any efficiencies for you okay if you have no charisma people won't do any efficiencies for you I'm all about heart to heart I'm only going to be in the shadows. You're not going to see signs from me, okay? I want government to go back in the shadows, but you can find me when you need me. We can do so much better. We're going to cut the public safety bill. We're going to cut the health services bills that are going to all the nonprofits, and we are going to raise the vibration all the way up by advertising to the proper visitors that we want, which will be from the Southeast United States coming in to the Buffalo Airport. Expanding the hospitality treatment from Niagara Falls to Buffalo is #1 in my tourism plan on strongniagara.ca.
Four years from now, what do you want residents to be able to point to and say, "That's what this mayor accomplished"?
I would have to say the fentanyl crime crisis, right? But really then you it's it's when you connect it all the way through, it's breaking down DEI and every special accommodation that we that we've given people where they feel that they can break the law for whatever reason. Crime isn't going down. That's the most asinine thing I've ever heard in my life. That's stupid. They're not prosecuting crimes. When I was growing up and somebody was having a beer or something like that, I mean, they hit. People are doing heavy drugs out in the open. It's disgusting. I'll never let my kids see that or normalize it and stuff like that. The fentanyl crime crisis and the epicenter being at Ferry and Maine will be eliminated under the direction of Mayor Lucid.
Lucid is one of five candidates running for Mayor in Niagara Falls, alongside Jim Diodati, Lori Lococo, Paul Manning and Kevin Martineau.
