Niagara Regional Chair Jim Bradley passes away at age 80

Niagara Regional Chair Jim Bradley has died. 

Bradley, who has been the region's chair since 2018, passed away Friday, just weeks after being hospitalized. 

According to the St. Catharines Standard, Bradley had suffered an apparent transient ischemic attack, a temporary condition similar to a stroke. 

Originally from Sudbury, Bradley also served as St. Catharines MPP for the Liberal Party from 1977 to 2018, and Grantham Ward Councillor in St. Catharines prior to that from 1970 to 1977. At 41 years, he holds the second-longest tenure in Ontario history for an MPP. 

Bradley also served in five different cabinet posts including portfolios in environment, community safety, municipal affairs, transportation and tourism. 

Bradley was 80 years old. Flags at Niagara Regional Headquarters will be lowered in his memory. Funeral details will be announced in the coming days.
