Tick season is coming back, and Niagara Region Public Health is asking residents to take a few simple precautions in preventing tick-borne illnesses like Lyme disease.
They say that, while cases of Lyme disease do remain relatively low, continued awareness and education is important for maintaining lower rates.
Some suggestions include the use of insect repellent containing DEET, wearing light-coloured clothes to spot ticks easier, or keeping grass trimmed and removing leaf litter where they can hide.
