Niagara Region issues beach warnings following elevated E. Coli levels

Several Niagara beaches are being flagged as unsafe for swimming after water testing found elevated levels of E. coli.

Niagara Region says Lakeside Beach and Sunset Beach in St. Catharines, along with Sherkston Elco in Port Colborne, remain open but are not recommended for swimming.

Nelles Beach in Grimsby is closed completely due to safety concerns and was not tested for E. coli.

Officials say swimmers should check current water conditions before entering the water, especially after heavy rainfall or when conditions appear unsafe.
