Niagara Police performing training exercises near Henley Island

Niagara Regional Police are advising the public that training exercises will take place today in the Henley Island area of St. Catharines between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Residents can expect to see an increased police presence, along with the sound of simulated gunfire, controlled explosions, and smoke in the area.

Signs and police tape will mark the training zones.

Police are asking the public to avoid the area for their own safety and to allow officers to train without interruption.
